Sr. Front-End Rails Developer Ruby on Rails, Backbone JS+jQuery, Bootstrap, and more

SK is seeking a full-time Senior Front-End Rails Engineer to join our growing team. You'll jump right in taking on tasks that involve creating brand new websites, new UX features, and maintaining our portfolio of highly trafficked applications. If you're interested in creating and growing exciting new products in the entertainment and pop culture space - we'd love to hear from you!

What we use

  • Our current stack: CoffeeScript, jQuery, Backbone, Underscore, Twitter Bootstrap, Bower, Jasmine, Karma, SASS, HAML, Ruby 1.9-2, Rails 3.2-4, RSpec, MySQL
  • Applications: Slack, GitLab, New Relic, CodeClimate, Sentry, and GitLab CI
  • We practice Agile / Scrum product development. We use JIRA, host daily stand ups, and work in 2-week sprints
  • We are a Mac office with big monitors on a sit/stand desk

Must Haves

  • Five years of experience as a front end developer
  • Front end aspects of Ruby on Rails (Controllers, Views and Asset Pipeline)
  • Ability to write tests and review code
  • JQuery, Bootstrap, and SASS
  • Working experience with Responsive Development

Bonus points

  • Knowledge of video streaming, specifically using JWPlayer
  • Familiar with Sprockets and use the Asset Pipeline daily
  • Ability to write the Ruby on Rails part too
  • Experience with designing and setting up A/B or multivariate tests

Affiliate Sales / Business Development

Who you are:

  • Sales driven and focused on researching leads and closing deals
  • Able to coordinate and maintain multiple objectives simultaneously

What you do:

  • Business Development:
    • Build a network of contacts in the industry
    • Identify new business opportunities with the goal of driving new sales and revenue
    • Seek out strategic partnerships that are in line with company goals
  • Affiliate Sales & Management:
    • Research and acquire targeted new affiliates for all SK Intertainment products
    • Help create and distribute new promotional materials regularly
    • Conceive of quarterly affiliate promotions, contests or special payouts
    • Optimize accounts of existing affiliates to maximize earning potential
    • Approve new affiliates and monitor all affiliates for fraud
    • Provide support to affiliates and partners as needed

Experience and Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of on-line advertising principals and terminology
  • Adept at campaign management and conversion optimization
  • Ad serving technology – OpenX, DFP or similar
  • Web Analytics, specifically Google Analytics
  • Strong communicator, both written and oral
  • Media Buying experience is a plus

Position Overview:

  • Full-time hours, 40 per week
  • Attend adult and mainstream trade shows as needed
  • In-house position in Wicker Park, Chicago - One block from the Damen Blue Line
