Sr. Back-end Ruby on Rails Developer Ruby on Rails, MySQL, APIs, and more

SK Intertainment is seeking a full time Senior Back-end Engineer with extensive experience in and mastery of Ruby on Rails to join our growing team. You'll jump right onto the team, instantly contributing and shipping code. Each Sprint you'll be a part of solving complex business requirements, maintaining current applications, and shipping code out to highly trafficked servers. Who you are

Must Haves

  • Highly skilled in Ruby and Ruby on Rails
  • Data modeling and database design
  • Building and integrating with APIs
  • Ecommerce and billing processor integrations
  • Application & Database architecture
  • Rspec testing

What you will work on

  • Integrating with third party APIs
  • Legacy Billing and Authentication Systems
  • Authoring RSpec Tests to improve confidence levels
  • Data design and application architecture
  • Solving a variety of complex problems by utilizing your experience
  • Building highly performant queries and code

What we use

  • Our backend stack: Ruby 2+, Rails 3.2‐4, RSpec, MySQL (MariaDB), Capistrano, ElasticSearch, git, Unicorn, Puma, Nginx
  • Applications: Slack, GitLab, New Relic, Sentry, and GitLab CI
  • We practice Agile / Scrum product development. We use JIRA, host daily stand ups, and work in 2‐week sprints
  • We're Mac users and primarily work remote

Affiliate Sales / Business Development

Who you are:

  • Sales driven and focused on researching leads and closing deals
  • Able to coordinate and maintain multiple objectives simultaneously
  • Works independently, communicates priorities, hits deadlines and ask for help when needed
  • Knows a lot about all areas of the business and can wear many hats as needed
  • Friendly, likable and genuine

What you do:

  • Business Development:
    • Build a network of contacts in the industry
    • Identify new business opportunities with the goal of driving new sales and revenue
    • Seek out strategic partnerships that are in line with company goals
  • Affiliate Sales & Management:
    • Research and acquire targeted new affiliates for all SK Intertainment products
    • Help create and distribute new promotional materials regularly
    • Conceive of quarterly affiliate promotions, contests or special payouts
    • Optimize accounts of existing affiliates to maximize earning potential
    • Approve new affiliates and monitor all affiliates for fraud
    • Provide support to affiliates and partners as needed

Experience and Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of on-line advertising principals and terminology
  • Adept at campaign management and conversion optimization
  • Ad serving technology – OpenX, DFP or similar
  • Web Analytics, specifically Google Analytics
  • Strong communicator, both written and oral
  • Media Buying experience is a plus

Position Overview:

  • Full-time hours, 40 per week
  • Attend adult and mainstream trade shows as needed
  • In-house position in Wicker Park, Chicago - One block from the Damen Blue Line
